Alex Cordero

Meteorologist

Meteorologist Alex Cordero joined the WPDE team in August of 2022 and is thrilled to be bringing you your forecast every weekend!

He was fascinated with the weather at a young age. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, he loved whenever it snowed. His family moved to South Florida when he was a young child. Several years in Florida are bound to bring some hurricane trouble, and that is exactly what happened with Alex, starting an obsession with weather that continues to this day.

Alex would go to Tallahassee and earn a Bachelor's Degree in Meteorology at Florida State University in 2014. Soon afterward, he would start working at WTXL in Tallahassee. In his five years there, he would cover several hurricanes, including 2018's devastating Hurricane Michael. He helped cover multiple severe weather episodes in North Florida and South Georgia, including the January 22, 2017 tornado outbreak and even a rare Florida snow day!

From 2019 to 2022, Alex was a meteorologist for the WCHS/WVAH Storm Team. Up north, the weather challenges were different. Alex covered multiple events including several snow events (Remember, he LOVES snow), the 2021 Kentucky ice storms, and the March 2021 floods. He loved the sights, sounds, and pepperoni rolls that the Mountain State had to offer!

Now in 2022, Alex is back near the beach! This time in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina! He is looking forward to using his several years of experience in the field to assist the Weather Authority team and WPDE.

While not at work, Alex loves to spend time at the beach, trying out all of the new local food he can find, and patiently waiting for the day his beloved Miami Dolphins win the big game!
