NFL locals update: Durant to Lions, Haynesworth to Pats

Two more players with local ties have found new NFL homes. There are numerous media reports confirming that Florence native Justin Durant has been signed to a two year deal by the Detroit Lions. Durant was a 2002 WPDE Zoneman Finalist out of Wilson High. He was a second round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2007 and spent the first four years of his career there before becoming an unrestricted free agent under the NFL's new labor deal. He is expected to fill a starting slot in Detroit's linebacking corps.

Hartsville native Albert Haynesworth is being dealt from the Washington Redskins to the New England Patriots according to ESPN. Haynesworth had a turbulent time in Washington after signing a 7 year, $100 million dollar contract that included $41 million dollars in guaranteed money.
