Pelicans beat Hillcats to even Mills Cup Championship series

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans defeated the Lynchburg Hillcats 8-3 on Sunday night to even the best-of-five Mills Cup Championship series at 1-1 in the Carolina League.

Charcer Burks started a five-run fifth inning with a solo homer to left field.

David Bote also drove in a run in the fifth with a double. Bote went 2-for-4 at the plate with one run scored, and drove in three runs to lead the Pelicans.

Game three is scheduled for Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in Lynchburg.
