Left-handed pitcher Garrett McDaniels from Pee Dee Academy in Mullins has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Coastal Carolina University.

McDaniels was unbeaten last season, and had a 1.22 ERA, leading Pee Dee Academy to a SCISA State Championship.

McDaniels tossed 34.1 innings last season with 66 strikeouts and allowed only 15 hits.

He throws three different pitches, and his fastball has been clocked at 91 miles per hour.

Also at Pee Dee Academy, softball star Anna Grace Johnson signed a letter to play for the Abilene Christian University Wildcats in Texas.

During her junior season, she hit .310 and led the team in home runs.

Johnson has a 4.6 GPA and is a 3-time all-region selection.

She will likely play shortstop in college.
