Gamecocks win heartstopper over Volunteers on final second goal line stand
The South Carolina Gamecocks held off the Tennessee Volunteers with a goal line stand in the final seconds for a 15-9 victory.
South Carolina (5-2, 3-2) trailed 9-3 in the third quarter. Former Conway High standout Bryan Edwards, who caught six passes for 63 yards, reeled in a 17 yard pass to help set up the only touchdown of the game.
A.J. Turner capped a 12-play 95 yard drive with a 20 yard touchdown run to tie the game. South Carolina missed the extra point.
Parker White booted three field goals, including two in the fourth quarter to put the Gamecocks ahead to stay.
South Carolina has next week off before playing Vanderbilt at home on Saturday, October 28.
