#1 Chapin tops #2 St. James in Lower State baseball showdown

The top ranked Chapin Eagles beat the #2 St. James Sharks 4-3 in a Class AAAA Lower State semifinal baseball game on Saturday afternoon at Shark Park in Murrells Inlet.

Chapin took a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning with RBI hits from Tyler Teal and Kareem Bowers.

St. James cut the lead in half when Ethan Salak scored on a passed ball.

Chapin tacked on two more runs in the sixth to provide enough offense.

St. James will host an elimination game on Monday.

Chapin awaits the winner on Wednesday at Chapin High.

The team that emerges from the losers bracket must beat Chapin twice to advance to the Class AAAA Championship round.
