Lewis Lineberger retires after 40 plus years of high school football
Johnsonville, SC - After 41 years as a football coach, Lewis Lineberger has decided to retire. The Johnsonville head coach informed ABC 15 sports of his decision Tuesday after spending the past decade coaching the Golden Flashes.
Lineberger won two state titles as head coach at Hartsville and finished second four times. He won 253 games over 34 years, 21 at Hartsville, 13 at Johnsonville.
Lineberger was inducted into the South Carolina Coaches Association Hall of Fame in December. The latest achievement in a long line of achievements.
Johnsonville will begin the search for his replacement with spring practice a few months away. Lineberger will officially end his career at the end of the school year.
