Marion, S.C. (WPDE) — A football player on the Timmonsville High School team was airlifted off the field following a cardiac arrest, according to the announcers at the game.
Our crew on scene said they asked for a moment of silence as the boy was taken in the helicopter.
This happened about half way through their game against Marion Friday night.
We spoke to the team's trainer, who told us he couldn't comment on the situation.
Officials say the player is expected to be okay. They told us it’s part of policy to airlift athletes when they get hurt during a game.
We have a crew at the game and are working to find out more information.
