NCAA Conway Regional win for economy and CCU (WPDE)

Coastal Carolina University's athletics department is preparing to host the NCAA Conway Regional.

"This is a big thing. This is a big thing for the university. This is a big thing for our whole area," said Jim Steinruck, a CCU fan.

"When you get an opportunity, you really want to take advantage and this is really go time for us," said Matt Hogue, CCU's athletic director.

The four-day event will bring in local fans as well as fans for the other three teams playing.

"The big picture: This an example of major sports tourism coming to our market, which has a financial impact indirectly for business owners, hoteliers and so forth," said Hogue.

It will be streamed by Watch ESPN, which brings eyes to the CCU campus and the Myrtle Beach area.

"I have to think it generates so much excitement for the school. It provides incredible branding, once again, for our beautiful campus and all of the wonderful things this university has to offer," said Steinruck.

A tournament at home means better chances of winning, according to Hogue.

"It provides our team the best chance to advance in the tournament by being able to play on their home field and be in surroundings they're really comfortable with," said Hogue.

You can buy tickets at the athletic office on campus or here.
