Marlboro County football Coach Dean Boyd is leaving the program after 22 years.

Boyd is taking another head coach job in South Carolina; he was approved by the York School Board Tuesday night to become the Cougars next head football coach.

Tuesday afternoon, Boyd met with his team to inform them of his departure.

Boyd guided the Bulldogs to countless Region titles and multiple playoff appearances. He was recently name head coach of the South Carolina team for the 2019 Shrine Bowl.

He becomes the second head coach in the Pee Dee to leave within the past several week. Corey Fountain left Lamar for Clinton High school after spending five years coaching the Silver Foxes.
