Born Patriots Fans: Newborns 'cheer' on favorite team
WORCESTER, Mass. (WJAR) - Newborn babies delivered at a Massachusetts nursery rooted for their favorite team on Super Bowl Sunday.
A photo posted to the UMass Memorial Maternity Center Facebook page shows about 20 infants swaddled in New England Patriots gear.
“Babies in our UMass Memorial Maternity Center South 4 nursery were cheering on the New England Patriots last night in their hand-made blankets and pom-pom hats!” according to the post. “We think they are the most adorable good luck charms we’ve ever seen!”
The post, which was shared nearly 10,000 times, went on to thank everyone who made the Patriots swag for the little bundles of joy.
“A big thank you to UMass Memorial Medical Center mother-baby nurses, Wendy Childs, RN, Suzanne Golas, RN, Jill Brigham, RN, Kim Moody, RN, Betty Chviruk, RN, Angela Przymusik, RN, Cynthia Sandstrom, RN and retired NICU nurse Anna Golas, who made Patriots blankets for all our babies and to the night shift nurses who made the Patriots pom pom hats to give to moms and their new little Patriots fans! #superbowl53 #imaumassmemorialbaby #umassmemorial UMass Memorial Medical Center Maternity PFAC,” the post noted.
The Patriots beat the L.A. Rams 13-3 in Super Bowl LIII.
