Video of Laurinburg officers arresting man goes viral

Chief Darwin Williams tell us his officers were called to the Walmart because Briggs was riding a hover board inside the store and refused to leave.

The Laurinburg Police Department is responding to a viral video that shows two officers arresting a man in a Walmart parking lot

It shows 23-year-old Perry Briggs Junior’s arrest on August 11.

It has been viewed more than 5 million times.

Chief Darwin Williams tell us his officers were called to the Walmart because Briggs was riding a hover board inside the store and refused to leave.

Briggs can be heard swearing at the officers as they follow him out of the store.

In the video, he's brought to the ground when he refuses to put his hands behind his back.

Briggs is charged with disorderly conduct, damage to personal property and resisting arrest.

"[The Officers] tried to get his name for identification purposes and also banishment from the store he refused to give his name which you can refuse to give your name but it needs to be in a peaceful manner," Williams said.

No officers are on leave.

We did reach out to Briggs, but haven't not heard back.
