(WPDE) — New year, new look! The University of South Carolina Wednesday released new logos.
It started simply with a new profile photo on Twitter.
"New year. Fresh look. Moore soon. #UofSC #NewProfilePic," the tweet read, along with an image of the new, stacked logo.
Later in the day, a host of new logos was shared on Twitter by the school.
“We’ve refreshed a couple of the marks,” USC spokesman Jeff Stensland told The State. “We’ve also updated the ‘trees and gates’ to make it look a little more modern and balanced. (This) doesn’t impact existing athletic marks.”
The State says the logos are in line with the school's push to rebrand its abbreviated name of "UofSC."
Because, let's be honest, when you say "USC," how many people assume you mean the University Southern California? Even though the University of South Carolina was founded in 1801 and the University of Southern California wasn't founded until 79 years later.
