Three Lake City students charged after gun brought on campus
Lake City, S.C. (WPDE) —
Three students were arrested after a gun was brought on campus Thursday morning at Ronald E.McNair New Technology Center on Carver Street in Lake City, according to Lake City Police Public Information Officer Amy Pringle.
The three are all charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful sale/delivery of a firearm to a minor.
Pringle said the School Resource Officer (SRO) received information that one of the students brought a weapon to school to give to a friend, and that there were three boys in the bathroom with the gun.
She added the school followed policy and procedure and immediately placed the school on lockdown.
The SRO located the three students and got the weapon, she said.
Officers transported the students to the Lake City Police Department where they met with the parents of the students.
A parent contacted us with concerns about what was going on at the school saying her son told her the school have been placed on lockdown because of a gun on campus.
The parent is relieved that the gun has been retrieved and no one was hurt.
The schools are now back to normal operation.
