Teen charged with attempted murder after 1 injured in Dillon shooting near tobacco store

DILLON, S.C. (WPDE) — A person was shot multiple times Thursday evening at a tobacco store on Old Latta Highway in Dillon, according to Dillon Police Chief David Lane.

Lane said the victim was taken to McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.

A 16-year-old has been charged in the crime with attempted murder. He is in custody at the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.

He will be held there for 48 hours and brought back to Dillon for a hearing next week to determine custody until the case is resolved.

The victim remains in the hospital.

A close family member said he’s on life support.
