Teen charged after shooting death at apartment complex in Lamar
Lamar, S.C. (WPDE) —
Devon Rembert, 19, is being charged with first-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Germaine McCoy, according to Lt. Robby Kilgo with the Darlington County Sheriff's Office.
McCoy was shot and killed Saturday afternoon, at Cambridge Apartments on Jackson Street in Lamar, according to Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee.
The State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is helping in the investigation.
Lt. Robby Kilgo with the Darlington County Sheriff's Office said deputies had increased patrols at the apartment complex after violent crimes there last summer, including shootings.
The apartment complex manager said they had enhanced security around the facility to keep trouble out.
Rembert is being held at the W. Glen Campbell Detention Center. He appeared before a Darlington County Magistrate Sunday afternoon and was denied bond.
