A Surfside Beach woman had to pinch herself while looking down at a $275,000 winning lottery ticket in her hand, according to a news release from the South Carolina Education Lottery.

“I never experienced anything like this,” she said just days after cashing in her winning scratch-off. “I’m so grateful to have had this experience.”

She told lottery officials that she’s played the lottery for years, winning several smaller prizes and $200 once. But her luck reached new heights at the local Piggly Wiggly on Highway 17 when she purchased the lottery’s new, oversized $10 ticket, Royal Jewel Jackpot.

“This is the most money I’ve ever had in my life!” she said, according to the release.

Four top prizes of $275,000 remain in the $10 Royal Jewel Jackpot game, at odds of 1 in 750,000.

For selling the claimed ticket, Piggly Wiggly #183 in Surfside Beach received a commission of $2,750, the release said.
