Study finds FDTC has $179 million impact on Pee Dee region
Florence, S.C. (WPDE) —
A recent study commissioned by Florence Darlington Technical College (FDTC) has found that the college has a $179 million impact on Darlington, Florence and Marion Counties.
Emsi, a nationally known economic development analysis company, conducted the study, according to FDTC Communications Director Clay Williams.
Williams said Emsi found that FFTC alumni account for over $134 million annually or 2,300 jobs.
The study looked at only fiscal year 2015-16.
Williams said the study also looked at return on investment (ROI) and found that, for every dollar FDTC students and alumni spend on their education, $5 is generated in the economy.
Dr. Ben Dillard, FDTC President, told the commissioners, "This is wonderful news for our College, but even better news for our taxpayers."
