Robeson County, N.C. (WPDE) — Six people have been charged in a burglary on July 30, 2017 at Southern Arms Gun Shop on North Main Street in the Red Springs community of Robeson County where 25 guns were stolen, according to Captain Kimothy Monroe with Red Springs police.
Some of the stolen guns included assault rifles.
Monroe said the culprits cut the lock to the metal gate and smashed the front door to get inside.
Evidence at the scene helped investigators gain leads, he said.
The Red Springs Police Department requested assistance from the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).
Several other surrounding agencies including the Robeson County Sheriff’s Department, the Lumberton Police Department and St. Pauls Police Department also joined the investigation which eventually led to the capture and arrest of six individuals.
More than 15 guns have been recovered so far, but not without the help of our neighboring agencies, according to Red Springs Police Chief Ronnie Patterson.
"There is no way this case would have been resolved so quickly and efficiently without fellow law enforcement working together for the common goal. That goal is to get the criminals off the streets and allow our residents to live peacefully without fear of more gun violence in our neighborhoods. “I just want to say thank you to everyone including our citizens that helped us bring this case to a close” said Chief Patterson.
