Dillon High School put on lockdown after gun found in student's bag

A Dillon High School administrator found a gun in a student's bag at Dillon High School Wednesday afternoon, according to Dillon School District Four Superintendent Ray Rogers.

Malik Sen’Cere Rogers, 18, is charged with simple possession of marijuana and carrying a weapon on school property after the gun was found in his book bag, according to Captain Cliff Arnette with the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.

Arnette said Roger is being held at the Dillon County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.

After the weapon was found, every student's book bag was checked and the school was put on lockdown as a precaution, according to Rogers.

He added the school is safe and the lockdown has since been lifted.

This is the second day in a row that the school has been placed on lockdown.

It was put on lockdown Tuesday afternoon following a bomb threat called into the school, but that threat was determined to be a prank.

We'll continue to bring you updates on this as they come in.
