Santee Cooper ready to send linemen to Florida
Horry County, S.C. (WPDE) —
Linemen from South Carolina are ready to help in Florida if needed.
A rep with Santee Cooper says the first priority will be its customers in South Carolina if the power goes out after Michael moves through.
But it does have two crews of about 10 workers on standby.
Linemen from Florida were here to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence.
"Our power was back on, though, within a couple of days. And that's in part because those Florida crews came up to help us. So, we're ready to go down and help them," says Tracy Vreeland with Santee Cooper.
Santee Cooper will active its storm center Thursday at noon to monitor Michael.
We also checked with Horry Electric.
It says it has to make sure South Carolina is in the clear first, but it does have crews on standby if needed.
