16-year-old Christopher Dewayne Oxendine has died after he was hit by a car while driving a golf cart Friday evening on Elrod Road in the Maxton area between Cabinet Shop Road and Highway 710, according to Trooper Kin Locklear with N.C. Highway Patrol.

Locklear said Oxendine failed to yield the right-of-way to the car.

The car ran off the road and into the ditch and the golf cart ran off the road, as well, Locklear said.

Locklear said the teen was revived on scene, but later died at the hospital.

Many people in the community have said this has been a tough week for Robeson County, as three teenagers have died in accidents.

Officials said 15-year old Claudius Worley died after he drowned in a private pond on Willoughby Road while on a trip with the Boy Scouts.

Then Sunday, troopers said, Alene Martinez was killed when the side by side ATV she was riding on Oxendine School Road at Highway 71 in the Red Springs community flipped over causing her to fall off.
