ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WPDE) — Robeson County is hoping to expand and improve access to the internet for thousands of people across the county who have little to no internet service, according to Robeson County Public Information Officer Emily Jones.
The county is conducting a study on broadband availability.
Robeson County officials learned during the pandemic just how many people have little to no access to the internet, based on where they live in the county.
They're asking residents to take part in a survey that will give county leaders some direction as to how they can improve broadband.
Broadband is important for the counties in our region to support education, health care, jobs, agriculture - literally our future in the 21st century. Your elected officials are committed to ensuring our citizens have access to broadband technologies which are second to none in North Carolina. The Covid-19 crisis has placed even more emphasis on the importance of high-performance broadband delivered to homes for learning, health care access, and ability to work remotely. By participating in this survey, you will help your County plan for a connected future," said Jones.
You can find the survey online.
