Robeson County school district superintendent sworn in
ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WPDE) —
There’s a new superintendent in Robeson County.
Dr. Shanita Wooten was officially sworn in Tuesday night as superintendent for the public schools in Robeson County.
Dr. Wooten has served as interim superintendent for the district since August 2017.
She is the first woman superintendent for the public schools of Robeson County, the first African-American superintendent and the youngest superintendent in the county.
The board has been looking for a new leader since last January when it part ways with longtime superintendent Dr. Tommy Lowry.
