Edward Autry Wright, 22, has been charged with first degree murder, first degree burglary, and first degree arson in the death of 18-year-old Marcy Blanks, according to Robeson County Sheriff's Major Anthony Thompson.

Thompson said while Wright was being fingerprinted, he attacked an investigator by biting him.

Wright has also been charged with assault on a law enforcement officer for that incident.

Thompson said Blanks went to a deputy's home on Buck Trail in Lumberton just before 4:30 Wednesday morning, beating on the deputy's front door.

Thompson said Blanks was covered in blood and has lacerations to her body.

She told the deputy that her house was on fire, Thompson said.

Officers went to the home and found that it was on fire.

Blanks was transported by EMS to Southeastern Health Center in Lumberton where she died.
