The child's mother, Shannon Oxendine, said she can't understand why anyone would want to hurt her daughter .

"I'm hurt but I'm just numb. I just don't understand why. I'm just clueless. I didn't get to see her until the machines were doing all the breathing for her," said Oxendine.

Oxendine said she's still waiting to learn more details as to what happened.

She said her daughter was beautiful and precious.

"She was just so happy. She didn't know a stranger. She's always been an angel. She was so lovable," said Oxendine.

Sealey said an autopsy was performed on Scott's body Monday at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Raleigh and the preliminary findings of the autopsy revealed blunt force trauma in the child's death.

Clark is being held without bond at the Robeson County Detention Center.
