Red Springs couple arrested in relation to shooting near a child, one man injured

A Red Springs couple is facing charges after deputies say they shot a man Friday evening.

At approximately 5:48 p.m., Robeson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 1500 block of Buies Mills Rd., Red Springs in reference to a subject shot.

Marcus Revels, 27, of Red Springs was shot in the arm and chest after a confrontation with a couple on Buie-Philadephius Road. Revels was transported to Southeastern Medical Center and treated for his injuries.

He is expected to recover from his injuries according to Sheriff Burnis Wilkins.

Kevin Brooks, 42 and Donelia Bryant, 37, both of Lulu Dr., Red Springs were arrested at their residence by investigators. Brooks and Bryant are charged with felony conspiracy, discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon, assault by pointing a gun and injury to personal property.

Brooks was placed in the custody of Robeson County Detention Center with a $280,000 secured bond. Bryant was placed in the custody of Robeson County Detention Center with a $106,000 secured bond.

The dispute between the individuals has been ongoing for several months, Wilkins says. During the confrontation, deputies say a two-year-old child was inside the vehicle of the victim, but fortunately was not harmed.
