Victim of deadly shooting in Longs identified

Saturday afternoon, police were called to a shooting on Freemont Road in Longs.

Lt. Raul Denis with the Horry County Police Department said the call came in at 3:50 Saturday afternoon. He said the person who called 911 said a man was walking on the street firing shots at random and that another man had been shot and was laying in the roadway. When officers arrived on scene they found a gunshot victim laying in the road and they got information that two other victims were taken to the hospital.

Officers arrived to find a gunshot victim laying in the road and they received information that additional victims had been transported to the hospital.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick confirmed that a 19-year-old man from Loris died in the shooting.

Hendrick said Levi Herman Moody died from a gunshot to his abdomen at a local hospital shortly after police responded.

Lt. Denis said two other men suffered injuries from the shooting but are expected to survive.

19-year-old Devonta E. Williams, of Longs, has been arrested and charged with Murder, Attempted Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime.
