Florence woman charged in dog's death
FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) —
Police say a woman has been charged in connection with an animal cruelty case in Florence.
Tuesday, Florence police officers responded to a home in the 1400 block of Waverly Avenue on an animal complaint.
Three dogs were found in the backyard of the home, and one of the dogs was dead, police say.
Animal Control took possession of the two other dogs.
Investigators say Michelle Alston deprived the dogs of adequate food and water.
The dog's death, however, was determined to be accidental due to the dog's tether becoming entangled with a chain-link fence.
Alston turned herself into the Florence County Detention Center.
