The Horry County Police Department is investigating a burglary and a home invasion that both happened Tuesday night in The Farm subdivision in Carolina Forest.

The two incidents do not appear to be related, according to police, but the investigation is ongoing.

The home invasion reportedly happened on Barn Owl Court around 9:30 p.m. when, according to a police report, a man entered the kitchen with a double-barreled shotgun and demanded phones and money from several victims.

A fight then ensued with the man and one of the victims as they tried to get the gun, according to the police report.

The man eventually lost control of the gun and was hit by one of the victims with a metal object as he ran away. He was able to get away.

Police say they have identified a possible suspect in the burglary and are asking for any residents with surveillance systems to check the video footage and contact police if they see anything that could be related.

Anyone willing to release their footage is asked to call 843-915-8477.

The robbery happened at home off Harvester Circle when a woman says a man, who was staying with her, left the home and she couldn't find her house key. She also said a laptop was missing.
