Driver ejected after Florence high-speed chase ends in crash

One person is in serious condition after they were ejected from a car after a high-speed chase ended in a crash on TV Road in front of the QVC distribution center in Florence, according to Major Michael Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff's Office.

The chase happened after, at around 12:40 p.m., a patrol deputy tried to start a traffic stop on North Cashua Street in Florence for a moving violation, but the driver of the vehicle refused to stop.

The vehicle briefly came to a stop in a parking lot where a passenger bailed out and the vehicle continued to flee from deputies, according to Nunn.

The pursuit continued into the Black Creek Road and TV Road area, where it ended after the fleeing vehicle left the road and overturned several times.

The suspect driver of the vehicle was ejected and has been transported by Florence County EMS to an area hospital, according to Nunn. No further information on the condition of the suspect is being released at this time.

Several FCSO vehicles were damaged during the pursuit, but no civilian vehicles were involved and no deputies were injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
