It’s an annual event that brings a smile to the faces of those who travel through Asheville. On Tuesday night, the Olivette Riverside Community and Farm set out to brighten the Craggy Bridge near Woodfin with beautiful sunflowers plucked from the organic farm nestled in the nearby Olivette housing community.

Every year, the community plants a cover crop of sunflowers. Those flowers are then taken to the bridge and displayed along the rails for drivers to enjoy.

The Olivette Riverside Community and Farm is Asheville's only planned riverfront community and agrihood, featuring 1.5 miles of French Broad River frontage and a working organic farm.

An agrihood community is an alternative to the traditional neighborhood model, centering the community around a working farm. Olivette is home to a biodiverse vegetable, fruit and flower farm.
