Officials ask you to slow down, watch for fallen trees if you must be on roads Thursday

A tree has already fallen in the Murrells Inlet area (WPDE)

Georgetown County officials are receiving reports of downed trees in the area, according to a Facebook post.

They posted that at least one tree was down on Highway 701.

"We are beginning to receive isolated reports of downed trees, with at least one tree down on 701. Wind gusts are already beginning to pick up as well, with gusts near 40 MPH in Georgetown. If you do not have to travel today, we encourage you to stay home," the post said. "If you must be on the roads, please use extreme caution and good judgement. Leave more following distance than usual between you and the car in front of you. Slow down, plan for longer travel times than normal."
