Myrtle Beach job creation leader resigns

Josh Kay has resigned as the President & CEO of the Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corporation (MBREDC) effective today, Friday, July 20th.

Kay stated that he is resigning to pursue other opportunities, according to a news release from the corporation.

MBREDC Board Chairman, Neyle Wilson, announced that Sandy Davis, the Vice President & COO, will serve as the interim CEO.

“It has been my privilege and honor to serve as the MBREDC President & CEO for the past 3 years. I have enjoyed working with the Board, partners, investors and staff and I look forward to following the MBREDC’s future successes," stated Kay.

Wilson said the staff and board wishes "Josh and his family the best on his new endeavor and appreciate his service to the MBREDC.”

The MBREDC is a public?private partnership that works closely with new and existing industries, site selectors, and economic development professionals to promote economic growth in Horry County. Since January of 2012, the MBREDC has announced over 1,900 new jobs including announcements in advanced manufacturing, aerospace, back-office support, health-care, and technology-related businesses.
