A local clerk literally smacked away an attempted armed robbery early Friday morning, according to a Myrtle Beach police report.

A man came into the Sun Fun Exxon on South Kings Highway on Feb. 9 and, according to a police report, quickly walked up the counter and "presented a brown bag over his hand demanding 2 packs of New Port 100's."

The clerk said the man acted like there was a gun under the bag, according to a police report.

He told officers he smacked the brown bag away from his face and told the man to get out of the store, according to a police report.

And, according to a police report, the would-be robber listened, walking out of the store and towards 3rd Avenue South.

The 61-year-old clerk told police he felt something when he smacked the bag, but he couldn't tell if what he felt was a gun or give any description of it.
