Motorcyclist from Maryland dies after fleeing from traffic stop in Myrtle Beach

A motorcyclist died after fleeing from a traffic stop and crashing in Myrtle Beach, according to Capt. Joey Crosby with Myrtle Beach police.

Keith Robinson, 24, from Lexington Park, MD, died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash, according to Deputy Horry County Coroner Michelle McSpadden.

The crash happened around 2:27 a.m. Friday, after police tried to stop a motorcycle in the area of 8th Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard.

During the investigation, the officer learned that the motorcycle was listed as stolen in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database. The driver of the motorcycle, Robinson, fled the scene from the officer, at a high rate of speed, and struck a curb, according to police.

He was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead, according to Crosby.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is the investigating agency for this collision.
