Friday night, 42-year-old Howard "Dale" Smith, reportedly fell overboard on a fishing vessel about 21 miles East of Myrtle Beach, according to the Coast Guard.

Today, his loved ones are looking for answers and looking for him.

The Coast Guard is continuing their search in the water and air for the missing man.

His wife, Cyndi Kramer Smith, describes Dale as someone who always has a smile on his face.

"There was not a person who didn't love him." she said.

Everyone is trying to figure out what happened, Smith said.

"[The Captain of the boat said] he was there one minute and gone the next," she said.

The couple lives in Socastee, but Smith is currently in Florida visiting family for the holidays. The Coast Guard told her they will be visiting her with a chaplain in Jacksonville, Smith said.

"We're just trying to wrap our heads around it," she said.

Dale has been a commercial fisherman for the past 25 years, Smith said.

If you have any information or if you have seen Dale, please call the Coast Guard.
