A man has turned himself in after facing several charges, including first degree murder, stemming from an August 2018 homicide, according to the Robeson County Sheriff Kenneth Sealey.

Geronimo Jones, 22, turned himself in at the Robeson County Sheriff's Office Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018. He is charged with first degree murder, discharging a firearm in occupied property, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and felony conspiracy, according to Sealey.

Back on Aug. 26, 2018 around 6:27 p.m., deputies responded to a call at the 5700 block of NC 211 East, Lumberton in regards to two people being shot. That's where deputies found Nylah Vereen, 20, dead of a gunshot wound to the head. She was inside the mobile home she shared with her boyfriend, deputies say.

Rokeiem Young, 21, was shot in the hand and leg, and was treated and released following the incident.

Jones' mother, Judy Kay Lowery, 40, was also charged for her involvement in the murder. She turned herself in on Aug. 29, 2018 at 1:45 p.m. at the Robeson County Courthouse. Deputies say she was charged with first degree murder, discharging a firearm in occupied property, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and felony conspiracy.

Both Jones and Lowery are being held at the Robeson County Detention Center without bond. Jones made his first appearance this morning in Robeson County District Court.
