Rudolph Freeman has been cited with two counts of misdemeanor death by vehicle in a wreck in Robeson County on Monday that killed Jessica Oxendine, 33, and her 13-year-old daughter Brianna Scott, according to Trooper C.D. Lowery with N.C. Highway Patrol.

Lowery said Freeman's car ran off the road, over corrected, went into the center lane and crashed into Oxendine's car.

He added Oxendine was headed to drop her daughter off at Pembroke Middle School.

The school's Facebook page said "Please keep our school family in your prayers as we mourn the loss of one of our seventh grader students, Brianna Scott and her mom."

Freeman was taking three children to the Purnell Sweat High School when the crash happened, Lowery said.

Freeman was hurt and the children in his car received minor injuries.

Lowery said a blood test showed no alcohol in Freeman's blood.

No word on when Freeman will appear in court on the citation.
