Man charged with sex crime involving a minor arrested again in Horry County
Horry County, S.C. (WPDE) —
Less than a week after neighbors wanted a man charged in connection with a sex crime involving a minor out of their neighborhood, the 67-year-old man was arrested again on Saturday.
Stephen Jordan is charged with assault and battery 3rd degree, entry on another's land for various purposes without permission and trespassing, according to J Reuben Long Detention Center's website.
Those charges against him come after, on Dec. 26, a woman told police he came onto her property and approached children who were playing. She said she told him to leave but he returned several times, according to a police report.
Jordan is also charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. He was out on a $10,000 bond, according to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
Some neighbors in the West Ridge community of Horry County told ABC15 News they were upset Jordan was living nearby, and many say he was talking with their children.
Jordan is pleading not guilty to the sex crime charge, his defense attorney, Greg McCollum, said. He was arrested for that charge in May 2018.
Last week Jordan was back in court after neighbors in the West Ridge community wanted his bond revoked.
“When it came to our attention, we didn’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable, including Mr. Jordan. So, when the prosecutor made a motion to revoke Jordan’s bond, we entered into an agreement where he would move," McCollum said.
15th Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson says Jordan is also not allowed to have contact with anyone under the age of 16.
The terms of Jordan's bond were revised to reflect the agreed upon terms.
Jordan was granted a $2,950 total bond Monday morning.
As of noon on Monday Jordan was still incarcerated, according to J Reuben Long Detention Center's website.
