Man arrested in Ohio for murder in Marion County

MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — Authorities arrested Derrick Rashon Buxton, 26, Monday in Franklin County, Ohio for the murder of 18-year-old Darrius Malik Ellison in April.

The shooting happened on Middleton Street in Marion, according to Marion Police Chief Tony Flowers.

Flowers said Buxton is charged with murder, unlawful carrying of a pistol, discharging a firearm in the city limits, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and pointing and presenting a firearm at a person.

Buxton is currently being held at a detention center in Ohio and is awaiting an extradition hearing.
