LuLu's restaurant brings family fun, great food to North Myrtle Beach

Lucy Buffet's LuLu's is officially open in Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach.

Lucy Buffet is the sister of singer Jimmy Buffet, who also owns several restaurants in our area.

Barefoot Landing is LuLu's third location in the United States, with the first being in Gulf Shores, Ala. and the second in Destin, Fla.

"Lucy had looked at Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach some time ago, so it was always something that was in the back of her mind as a great location because, honestly, these are our people: people that like to get in their car and drive to the beach and so, it was a perfect fit," said Chief Operating Officer for LuLu's, George Martin.

At one point, the restaurant had almost 300 jobs available, some of which still need to be filled.

"We're always hiring kitchen help. It's always an area we continue to grow and build. The kitchen is the heart of LuLus; We bring our fresh Gulf seafood up from the Gulf of Mexico and it just takes all the hands we can get," said Martin.

Something special about the restaurant: It has its own sandy beach!

"We bring a bit of escapism, fresh coastal cuisine and we have a beautiful beach, a fountain for the kids, so there's a little bit of something for everyone," said Martin.

Lulu's also has unique food on its menu for the entire family including a crab melt, fish tacos and the "Pa-Menna" cheeseburger with pimento cheese, bacon and a fried green tomato.

A special service the restaurant offers is their allergy program. Martin says the program is extensive, allowing just about anyone to eat there without the fear of allergies. They have special menus for people with allergies from shellfish, to soy, to gluten.

"The care that we take in our allergy program allows parents and children to have complete confidence, so those with extreme allergy can come and enjoy a meal just like anyone else," he said.

The restaurant also has a locals program called "LuLu's Loves Locals," which has already been a huge success in it's only nine days of business.

"I like to think that we bring a little bit of extra care and love to what we do. We spend a lot of time hyper-focusing on the little things, you know, the smile, the warm welcome, the level of service at the table, the quality of food, the enthusiasm in each department, the cleanliness, and the feel of the property when you walk up it just is an inviting feeling that once you're here you just wanna stay here, and then you wanna come back, and then you wanna bring your friends, and then you wanna talk about it," said Martin.

LuLu's also hosts live music nightly from 6-10 p.m. from mostly local artists, but also some musicians from LuLu's other locations.
