Longtime Florence School District One (FSD1) board member Glenn Odom has resigned from his position as representative of District 5, according to FSD1 Board Chairman Barry Townsend.

Townsend said they will be addressing Odom's resignation at the regular school board meeting Thursday night.

His term wasn't up until 2020, according to the district's website.

Odom has served on the board for more than 25 years.

Townsend said a special election to fill Odom's unexpired term won't take place until November 2018.

He added the Florence County Legislative Delegation may choose to appoint someone to fill in until then if they wish.

Odom's information has been removed from the district website as of Tuesday. His seat is now listed as "vacant."

The board meeting takes place Thursday, October 12 at 7 p.m. at the John T. Sullivan Board Room at 319 South Dargan Street in Florence.
