Longs man charged with murder in shooting death of Florida man

A Longs man has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of a Florida man last week.

The shooting took place Oct. 10 on Freemont Road shortly before 7 p.m.

Horry County police initially responded to a 911 hang-up call.

When dispatchers played the tape of the call back, they heard someone taking about a shooting.

Responding officers found a grey Chevy Tahoe in a driveway on Freemont Road with the shooting victim inside.

The male victim was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

On Thursday, the man was identified by Horry County Coroner's Office as Jason Sprott of Jacksonville, Fla.

According to a news release from Horry County Police Department, a Longs man has now been charged in connection with the shooting death.

That suspect has been identified as Anthony Bellamy, 39.

Bellamy has been arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

He is currently being detained at the Horry County Detention Center. No bail has been set.
