Laurinburg man dies after saving pets from fire

A 49-year-old man died Monday night after he saved several pets from a house fire on Ponderosa Drive in Laurinburg, according to Laurinburg Police Chief Darwin Williams.

Some of the man's pets were killed in the fire, Williams said.

He said they're still trying to piece together what happened.

He added they don't suspect any criminal involvement at this time.

Williams said the man was a hardworking man who loved his family and pets.

We've contacted the Laurinburg Fire Department to learn more details as to what led to the fire.
