Joy Prom: A night to remember for people with special needs and their families
Myrtle Beach, SC (WPDE) —
The Beach Church held its sixth Joy Prom, a dance and dinner for people with special needs and their families
Almost 700 people came out to walk to red carpet, eat, and dance.
The Beach Church has a ministry for people with special needs and were inspired to hold a special night just for them.
Local businesses help sponsor the event that is free to everyone who attends.
"With me having autism, I get to feel special one night per year," said Hunter Jones, who has attended three Joy Proms.
The event had booths with resources for people with special needs.
It also had a full medical staff on hand and a quiet room for people who were overstimulated by the large crowd.
