Informational rallies set for $198 million school bond referendum in Florence
Florence, S.C. (WPDE) —
Students First is sponsoring a series of rallies to share the facts about a $198 million bond referendum in support of Florence One Schools.
Students First is “dedicated to improving the safety in and the facilities of Florence One Schools. Our supporters cover the broad spectrum of local residents: businesses, students, moms and dads, grandparents and retirees, newcomers, and life-long residents. We have financial, legal, and organizational advisors. Volunteer opportunities can be found under the "Get Involved" section found above. Students First as a group agrees with the simple goals of the February 26th referendum.”
The referendum supports the district’s efforts to build four new schools, renovate three high schools and build three athletic facilities for the high schools.
Students First said the purpose of the rallies is to make certain that voters receive accurate information concerning the bond referendum and have a chance to have questions answered.
Robert LeMaster, Chairman of the Steering Committee for Students First said, “These community meetings are being planned in order to provide the public with as much information and clarity about the upcoming referendum as we can. It is critical that we all make a well-educated decision. The future of our school district and our community is too important to do otherwise. We are hoping for a big turnout.”
The agenda for each of the community meetings will include information about why the district is requesting this bond issue, how the money will be spent, and the other benefits that will come from the proposed $198 million.
