Five people are dead, including an infant, after a crash on I-95 near mile marker 7 in Robeson County, according to WTVD.

North Carolina Highway Patrol shut down I-95 from mile marker 7 in Lumberton to South of the Border in Dillon County after the crash between at least two tractor trailers.

As of around 1:00 a.m. Wednesday, North Carolina DOT said all lanes were reopened.

Dispatchers said an 18 wheeler had problems with its fuel tank and caught fire, igniting several other cars.

Firefighters on scene said three helicopters were used to fly injured people to the hospital.

A detour was in place to direct traffic around the scene of the crash through much of the Tuesday afternoon and overnight.
