Horry County first responders are investigating an area where a body was found Sunday.

Firefighters and police officers responded to the area of West Perry Road and Debo Drive, on a wooded path behind the Walgreens in Carolina Forest, Sunday afternoon around 2:30 p.m.

According to Krystal Dotson with the Horry County Police Department, no foul play is suspected.

The body was progressively decomposed when officers arrived on scene, according to a police report.

The responding officer spoke with the man who found the body while walking his dog. He said he got employees from the Walgreens to notify HCPD.

Deputy Coroner McSpadden responded to the scene. She believed the victim had been deceased for about two weeks, according to the police report.

CID was requested because the body was too badly decomposed for officers to be able to determine a cause of death.

Myrtle Beach Police Department also responded to the scene. They were able to positively identify the victim by using their fingerprint scanner and paperwork found in the victim's book bag, according to the report.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.
