Horry County police officers are investigating a deadly shooting that happened at the Koyote Saloon off Highway 501 early Friday morning.

Detectives said one person was taken to a hospital and they later confirmed at 6 a.m. that one victim had died.

The shooting happened at around 3 a.m., HCPD reports.

According to a police report, two people involved in the incident were taken to the hospital.

One, listed on the police report as a 26-year-old man from Conway, was shot and taken by "personal vehicle" to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, according to a police report. That man was later pronounced dead.

That man was identified as Reginald Washington, according to Deputy Horry County Coroner Michelle McSpadden. She said his family says he was from New York and she does not know how long he was in the area for.

The other victim, a 26-year-old man from Myrtle Beach, was dropped off at South Strand Hospital, according to the report. Once that man was stabilized by South Strand staff, he was taken by Horry County Fire Rescue to Grand Strand Regional Medical, "intubated and rushed into surgery," the report states. The report does not say what kind of injuries he had.

Another man was found at the front door of the bar with a bloody towel on his head, the report states. He told police he "fell down while in the bar and claimed to have no knowledge of anything that occurred."

Waccamaw Boulevard along Highway 501 just north of the River Oaks exit was shut down for several hours as police investigated.

As of 8 a.m. the scene was cleared and the investigation continues.

We'll continue to update this story as more information comes in.
